Revel in Romance Debut Music Video For "Young" And It Will Have You Waxing Nostalgic

Revel in Romance Debut Music Video For "Young" And It Will Have You Waxing Nostalgic

Our favorite Atlanta-based five piece Revel in Romance just debuted the music video for their latest single, “Young,” and it will have you waxing nostalgic for your earliest days of carefree youth.

While the song “Young” is about what it’s like to be young and in love, it’s not necessarily in the way you might think.

You may recall our interview with Saxony Raine, Revel in Romance’s charming and effervescent lead singer, whose voice can best be described as a cross between Hailey Williams and Florence Welch.

In discussing “Young,” Saxony Raine says “‘Young’ was an interesting one for us. Personally, I was in a very fun relationship where time was endless and passion was natural. We had dated previously when we were 15 and then again at 18.  Anyways, he said something that made me kind of mad—I guess so mad that it sparked this idea of writing Young’s lyrics “I’m not sorry we were young.” He told me that the love we had when we were younger was “puppy love”, but for me that was my first real feeling of love. So we may have been young, but it wasn’t anything less.”

The music video accompanying “Young” perfectly matches the sentiment behind the lyrics. It features Saxony Raine as a bright-eyed ingenue, boarding a bus and getting lost in reflection and contemplation as she stares out the window, perhaps daydreaming of her own young love and days gone past. Her daydream is interrupted with dramatic sequences of the band rocking out on stage, while Saxony Raine piercingly nails each sustained high note. It’s the perfect balance of energetic and subdued, while making sure the audience stays engaged.

“In writing this song we were all focused on young love and wanted it to have an upbeat feel. I really feel like it’s perfectly portrayed from tones to lyrics,” Saxony Raine says.
