The Strokes Set to Return to NYC for NYE After Canceled Gov Ball Set
Hey, Strokes fans! It wasn’t that long ago that we were all eagerly awaiting The Strokes’ headlining set for day three of Governors Ball Music Festival 2019. With the unfortunate weather-related incidents of the Sunday festival, ticket holders were forced to evacuate the island—during a thunderstorm—right before The Strokes were set to take the stage.
Fans were undoubtedly disappointed by the events of Day 3, prompting festival organizers to host a Reddit AMA to answer questions about the festival cancellation and evacuation procedures. Many fans, who had traveled internationally to the festival specifically for The Strokes, expressed their frustration at not being able to see their favorite New York City band take the main stage at Gov Ball.
During the AMA, organizers hinted that there may be something in the works to bring The Stokes back to New York City. Gov Ball clearly went hard at work to make that dream become a reality, because the festival just announced that The Strokes will be headlining a show in New York City on New Year’s Eve.
That’s right, you heard us correctly—The Strokes will be playing at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn on December 31, 2019.
While tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, August 9, Governors Ball ticket buyers who were affected by the Sunday cancellation will receive a special pre-sale code to purchase tickets beginning on Tuesday, August 6 at 10am ET.
If you were one of the many fans who missed out on seeing The Strokes at Governors Ball 2019, stay tuned (and check your emails) for a unique code from Front Gate. Tickets are expected to sell out, so grab your friends and book tomorrow during the pre-sale to ensure a seat. What better way to ring in the New Year? I know that on January 1, I’ll be reliving all of the epic glory of the “Last Night” of 2019.
