Kiesza Shows Her Fans "Sweet Love" with New Comeback Single
We’ve got some exciting news to share, and we couldn’t wait until New Music Friday to do it. Canadian pop dance sensation Kiesza is back and better than ever. After a car crash that left her with some serious injuries, the recovering artist is ready to delight her fans with new music. Her electro-infused synth pop sound will be gracing the airwaves once more with a refreshing new single, “Sweet Love,” released on June 20.
“Sweet Love” might come as a bit of a surprise to those who know Kiesza from her earlier days, back when she was the reigning queen of the dance floor. The singer—whose multi-million selling single “Hideaway” launched her to superstardom—has noticeably stripped back her signature electronic style. “Sweet Love” is more tender and piano-driven, showing off Kiesza’s impressive vocal range. The lyrics are personal and powerful, complemented by a minimalist yet emotive music video that showcases the singer’s classical dance roots, while relying on stark colors like red, white, and black to set the mood.
Re-emerging nearly five years since “Hideaway” was released, Kiesza is no longer beholden to the whims of a record label. The singer, who has collaborated with artists like Skrillex, Diplo and Duran Duran, is newly independent, producing songs under her own label, Zebra Spirit Tribe.
To celebrate her new music, Kiesza is embarking on a small tour for the first time in years, playing in smaller, intimate venues around North America. Another first for the artist? The tour is entirely acoustic. Fans will be able to connect with the artist on a deeper level as she previews her new music and showcases her vocal range in an entirely acoustic setting.
The first stop on her quick tour is a sold-out show at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City on June 26 before making stops in Montreal, Toronto, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
