Music You Have to Listen to This Weekend From Habstrakt, NBDY, and Skylar Stecker
Get ready to pump up the volume to the highest it can possibly go on the following tunes. You’ve more than earned it, players.
With Saturday around the corner, it’s time to kick back, stretch out, and forget about that last work email you conveniently forgot to respond to. Besides, nobody’s got time for that. Your impatiently rude and condescending boss can take a backseat for a hot second. Tell ‘em Music & Mojitos said so, and that’s the bottom line.
Before you get ready to change into your fresh to death club outfit, we’ve got some music that we think will set the mood just right for the next two days. These artists are bringing something fresh to the dinner table. Clear off some room on your plate, and fill your empty cup with a nice, cool alcoholic beverage of your choice. The following music is what dreams are made of.
Habstrakt - “Control”
Oh yeah, this one is dirty—just the way we like it. It fits in quite well with the theme of telling your boss off properly. Habstrakt isn’t playing around on “Control.” Through Tchami’s CONFESSION label, Habstrakt flexes like an evil genius on this track. The potion that he cooked up on “Control” has that extra special sauce that will catch you by surprise, and make you want another round. There is nothing repetitive here. There’s a reason why Hakstrakt has played music festivals like Electric Zoo and EDC Las Vegas.
NBDY - “Battlezone”
If Pat Benatar once sang about love being a battlefield, NBDY takes the concept to uncharted territory on his new song, “Battlezone.” The R&B singer-songwriter wears his heart on his sleeve in this one. A great pickup by Arista Records, NBDY knocked down doors earlier this year with “Admissions.” After listening to “Battlezone,” you’ll know why NBDY is someone to keep your eyes on.
BLR & NBLM - “Don’t You Love This Feeling”
You’ll love the feeling that you’ll get from this hot track from BLR and NBLM. “Don’t You Love This Feeing” is a dance track that comes from festival favorite Tiesto's AFTR:HRS label. “Don’t You Love This Feeling” is what Saturday nights are made of. Catchy doesn’t begin to describe what the song is. Together, BLR and NBLM are a force to be reckoned with.
Skylar Stecker - “Don’t Test Me” (Shagabond Edit)
Last but not least, we wrap things up on New Music Friday with one of our personal favorite artists, Skylar Stecker. Stecker’s album Redemption is one of this year’s greatest—it truly has something for everybody. On this hot remix of “Don’t Test Me,” producer Shagabond steps up to the plate to put his magic touch on the track. His funky take on the remix makes you love Skylar that much more.
