Sensu Does it All With "Listen"

Sensu Does it All With "Listen"

When you’re as talented as Sensu, you don’t have to be conventional. “Listen,” a track available through Quartz Records, features spirited vocals from the ever-so-smooth Otis Junior. It’s Sensu’s latest example of bending the rules and completely getting away with it. In her case, it pays to be a rule breaker.

Over the years in Baden, Switzerland, Jasmin Peterhans built a name for herself as Sensu. Making smart choices, and taking elements from the chillstep and hip-hop genres—while combining it with her background of being a classically trained pianist—makes her an up-and-coming player who’s not to be messed with.

Music & Mojitos is all about the glitchy vibes that Sensu is putting out on “Listen.” Check out the official music video for the song below, and brace yourself for a serious—and emotional— rollercoaster ride. Don’t say that we didn’t warn you in advance.

Now that you’ve had some time to digest what you just saw, Music & Mojitos thinks that you should get to know Sensu a little bit better. She’s going to be around for a good minute, so it’s best that you hop on the train before it takes off and gets red hot.

Her first full-length album, Embrace, is dropping on September 6—right after Electric Zoo invades New York City. If the rest of her upcoming material is anything like “Listen,” fans should get ready to expect the unexpected. We’re so ready to take a walk on the wild side.

In a recent press release, Sensu shared her thoughts on what exactly she wants people to take away from “Listen.” “The song ‘Listen’ perfectly represents the style of music I create. It's a track with drum sounds that you could use in a hip-hop track and synthesizer sounds which could be used in a trance song, so it creates that electronic sound mixed with an organic feel to it.” She continues, “During the album process I was looking for a soulful voice for this track and I guess I found the perfect match on Instagram - Otis Junior from Louisville. He has an absolutely beautiful and soulful voice which matches the track perfectly and gives a nice warm feeling to it.”

Friendship is a thing of beauty, and Music & Mojitos hopes that Sensu and Otis Junior team up again to create music that challenges listeners to think outside the box.

While you’re waiting patiently for Embrace to drop, why not check out some fresh music from Adventure Club and ALIGN?
